Happy National Library Week!

National Library Week (April 7-13, 2024) is celebrated by libraries across the nation as a way to honor the Library’s vital role within the community. The FVRLibraries mission is to strengthen our communities through knowledge, experiences, and creativity. In our work, we value inclusion, collaboration, and access, and believe in our vision that everyone in our communities is valued and empowered to succeed.

In 2023, FVRLibraries, both virtually and within our 15 locations, circulated 5,428,753 physical and digital items – from books and audiobooks, to eMagazines, to movies and songs you can access on your devices, to board games, park passes, and more. But that’s only a fraction of the services we provide our communities. Programs such as technology classes and storytimes, compelling book groups, lively film discussions, classes for English-language learners, programs for job seekers, and – yes – even the opportunity to read to a dog are among the activities we serve up every day. The Library collection is always core to our offerings, both physical collections and also the amazing online resources with topics ranging from auto mechanics, electronics, business, genealogy, and language learning. The online access includes over 7,000 of the world’s top newspapers and magazines from 150 countries in more than 60 languages — and all of this is available free with your library card!

FVRLibraries is thankful to our Friends of the Library groups that support each one of the local libraries, and the FVRL Foundation that provides ongoing financial support through grants and generous donations from the community. These library advocates and supporters allow the Library to continue doing our important work and we thank them!

What a wonderful opportunity National Library Week is to celebrate our libraries, our library employees and volunteers, and the myriad of services we offer. More importantly, what a great time to celebrate and be thankful for you, our patrons and library advocates. Thanks for your support, comments, visits, and continued use of FVRLibraries. We’re here for you.

All My Best,
